What does it mean if one does a look-up for a domain and there is no DNS record available though they have an IP address showing where they are hosted?
Jeff Hendrickson
Weird. Every address should come back with a record, even if it's a parked address (unassigned). What do you get when you run the query?

Well, yesterday I used robtex (and checked the logical various whois services) and it came back that there were no DNS records. Today, since you asked, I checked the URL again and now it shows DNS records. It is hosted here in South Korea as well. There is this one ISP here that has been spewing junk for months now. I was curious:

More information

wrapstage.ru is hosted on a server in Korea even though the hostname implies Russian Federation.

I ran 125.181.106.177 here and came up with NXDOMAIN (no records). Cheesy.

dotname.co.kr . . . then there are most likely a lot of corrupt registrars and that is a trip down the rabbit hole, hichina, enom, etc. I'm assuming corruption is not limited to Koreans. wink.gif
