Hi all,
I got a phish yesterday apparently coming from singnet.com.sg. The report went to abuse@singnet.com.sg. But I got the following reply:

------
Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your email.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the closure of this mailbox. Please note that emails sent directly to this mailbox will not be responded to.

Please use the online form at http://www.singnet.com.sg/help/security/othersIAReport.asp to submit your Internet Abuse Incident Report.

For more information on Internet Security, please visit our website at http://www.singnet.com.sg/tou/security.asp

This might be convenient for them, but obviously it makes autmated reporting impossible. Also isn't there a requirement that they have an abuse@xxx mailbox that remains open?

Cheers, Mike.

Mike,

I regret to say that it's easy to take this as evidence of how little many (most?) ISPs really care about spam.

(I suspect that's b/c they know there's nothing they can really do about it; so why give themselves the bother of having their own inboxes filling up with complaints!)

When I used to report the stuff, I remember one major provider required you to enter your account number - even when you weren't a customer of theirs - in order to submit such a form as the one you mention!

I fear that for the moment we're on the losing end of this particular menace.

Mike, you need to check your abuse addresses too. Singnet.net.sg reports should go to abuse@magix.com.sg
I just sent them a complaint.

I just let Purify do its thing - I don't really want to manually have to check everything. But thanks.

Hey Jeff,
I'm still getting the odd spam from singnet.sg, and Purify is sending the reports to abuse@singnet.com.sg when it should apparently be abuse@magix.com.sg. Does something need to happen at your end, or should I do something?
Cheers, Mike.

Thanks for this Mike. I've updated my abuse database, the domain singnet.sg, will report to abuse@magix.com.sg.

ISPs are not very responsive maybe. Perhaps it is way past time to go after the registrars and how this whole system is put together.
