Full Version: Domain to friends list

Jeff,

Would it be possible to refine the new "add friends" applescripts to allow the option of adding a whole domain/ subdomain to the friends list? I guess it could be a separate script that you select, but I'm thinking in terms of incorporating it into the existing scripts to avoid multiplying scripts unnecessarily.

Thanks.

You probably already know this, but adding an entire domain to your friends list is something that you can do now by hand. e.g. add myfriendsdomain.com to your friends list. This is not without risk. For example, adding yahoo.com, or gmail.com to your friends list would allow a torrent of spam through. Maybe this is best left done by hand?

Jeff,

Yup, I did know that and have done it many times (only with selected domains that I know have a limited range of users). But with the new AS arrangement, we now have a situation where if you want to add a whole domain to friends you have to take an extra manual step of going into the Purify interface and editing the address you've just added with a key click. Just seems kinda' dumb to me ..

Personally I'd like to be able to extend the AS to allow adding a whole domain. If you're not comfortable with adding that to the default AS (which I could certainly understand), would you be open adding some provision for that on a caveat emptor basis? You could post something here describing the editing to the existing AS that one would need to do. And maybe even add the same to the manual in an appendix or "advanced" section?

Any chance? smile.gif

Yep, FYI, I am using version 2.2.0 of Purify. I haven't had the time to release it, but hope to soon. Before I do anything else, I'm finishing, and publishing my iPhone app. It was supposed to be done back in August! I only have a few weeks worth of work on it, but keep getting distracted. I love the saying "in the thick of thin things" to describe these distractions, and before you know it, 2 months have slipped by. I'll include your suggestion in Purify v 2.2.1. No promises on when this will happen.

Thanks, Jeff. That'll do smile.gif
