Jeff,

I am using build 2.2.0 and it works fine most of the time. However, sometimes the program stops with error code 103. I provide below an extract from the log and would be grateful if anyone can tell what I need to do to fix the problem.

Regards,

Stan

error socket 103
Jeff Hendrickson
Hi Stan,

Socket error 103 means that the DNS server that you are using can not find the domain (i.e. arin.net) that you are trying to connect.

You might try adding a secondary DNS server to your IP connection, or using a different DNS server as your primary DNS server.

You can change these by opening Network Connections, right click on the network connection you are using, click properties, click on Internet Protocol, click the button properties, and then enter the IP address(es) of your DNS servers.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I've been having a devil of a time processing because of "time-outs" when trying to find abuse addresses. I finally gave up last night. I've tried from two different servers.

Anyone aware of DNS problems on the net? My email and web pages seem to work normally. sad.gif

Hi Tim,

That might have just been that abuse.net was down. This happens from time to time. Please let me know if you continue to have problems with this....

The problem today seems to be that Sp@mX can't reach ARIN, though I can get to their web site. Here's what I get in 2.0.6:

ARIN Error Winsock Error number - 10060 - The attempt to connect timed out

Tonight I was getting the socket error 103 so I changed my primary DNS Server as Jeff suggested and SpamX is flying again.

Seems quite strange really as I had no other DNS issues with web or usenet.

The DNS changes seem to clear up the problems with the socket 103 errors.
