The Cross Platform version of SpamX has been released.

In addtition to Windows, there is now a version for Macintosh, and Linux!

There is a version of SpamX compliled for each Operating System, all built from the same code base, with the same user interface. No Java used, or required. No .NET used or required.

Linux Download:

The registration for this version is supported by a MySQL database on my Web server, so you need to send me your email address, and I'll send you a machine string to enter into your configuration for validation.

The general feedback that I've been getting is good. I've heard users describe it as very fast, and reliable.

This version has a few new features.

You can customize the message that's at the top of the abuse complaint to the ISP.

It supports the decluded sender tag, and x-originating ip tag as an authoritative source of the spam.

In the absence of these tags it will report all of the 'received:' lines, so admins can get the open proxy notifications.

The default message that appears at the top of the abuse complaint is admin friendly, with the following message -
"I believe this email either originated from your domain, your domain was involved in it's delivery, or you are the victim of the spammer spoofing your domain information. All of the information is included for you to take action."

This version looks up Japanese abuse addresses.

And you have a few new processing options.

The Windows version of SpamX will continue to be supported as a legacy system. All of the Web support pages are now geared toward the new version.

I'm anxious to get your feedback! ph34r.gif

Just a smallish point (by the way my copy indicates it's 1.2.8)

After processing a bunch of messages, the list clears, but dropping a new message into the folder doesn't repopulate the list.

Maybe a timer? or a button to reload the list perhaps.

Hi Bazz, we're on version 2.0.0. You can use any of the links above to download the latest version.

Oops.. I meant to type 2.1.8.

Great suggestion, I'll put it on the list! ph34r.gif

Hello Jeff,

Although the previous version worked very well, the new sp@mx looks great, but does not work on my PC.

I suppose I need a machine string.

Can you send it to me?

Thank you in advance, good luck,

Jos

Hello again Jeff,
I registered. Now you have my email address to send me the machine string.
Kind regards,
Jos

Hi Jos, it's on it's way my friend...
Jos Putzeys
Hello again Jeff,

Sorry for my bad English.
Thank you for your prompt reaction. Your new version of SpamX makes a big impression on me, it works and works incredibly well. I use SpamX since a few months and daily, I receive emails from providers who are asking to be excused for the behaviour of their customers and who are confirming the closure of one or more email accounts.
There is only one problem ... since I use the actual version my main email-address
overflows with reactions of email providers who confirm the receipts of my complaints.
Maybe it would be nice to provide the next version the possibility to use 2 email addresses, one (the main address) for subscribtion and receiving the SpamX news and a second address that "sends" the messages and also receives the (automated) answers send by the providers.

Would you please, in the meantime, change my email address to CraigLawyers at telenet.be. BUT PLEASE: keep sending al your emails and messages to my main email address because I don't want to miss anything that's coming from you. smile.gif

Thank you in advance, I wish you very good luck. Thank you for this splendid program: I think SpamX is the most useful program on my PC and I will recommend it to everyone who has trouble with spam.

Kind regards,

Jos Putzeys, Belgium

Hi Jos,

Why, thank you for those kind words.

I've taken care of this and sent you a response via email.

I've also modified your original message on the message board to conceal the email address from spammer email harvesting tools. ph34r.gif
