Without any reason Purify (version 1.2 and 1.2.1) stoped working yesterday. I just get a red light and a spinning beach ball.

The console log tells me:

PurifyOSX[817]: [FC] Class NSFontPanelCanDragTableView does not exist. There's no way to add drawRow:clipRect: to it.
PurifyOSX[817]: [FC] ACK! Can't add drawRow:clipRect: method to the table view.
PurifyOSX[817]: [FC] Class NSFontPanelCollectionsTableView does not exist. There's no way to add drawRow:clipRect: to it.
PurifyOSX[817]: [FC] ACK! Can't add drawRow:clipRect: method to the table view.

What happend to the Purify app? I haven't installed anything on my iMac or changed the Purify configuration.

I can't reproduce this here Thomas. Working fine.

Are any other apps producing similar complaints?

No, all other apps are runing fine. Also Purify on my iBook runs fine.

I have tried to delete and reinstall Purify: Same problem.
Jeff Hendrickson
All other apps running fine makes me think that the disk image of the .app is corrupted somehow.

Without uninstalling, can you please try putting a copy of Purify in another folder, and try starting it?

BTW, no one else is reporting this, so this problem is unique to your computer.

I tried to start a copy of Purif: Same result.

I decided to upgrade my iMac from MacOS X 10.4.11 to MaxOS X 10.5: Same result. I sent you the crash report via email.

I'm running out of ideas ....

Out of ideas here Thomas. No one else is reporting this.

There's something going on with the computer in question, I suspect that one of the frameworks that Purify relies on is corrupted somehow. Wish I could be more help.

I made a totally clean install of MacOS X 1.5 & 1.5.1 update today: Same problem.

So I have spend 2 nights to get Purify back to usual behavior. Now I give up. Sorry Jeff, but I think I have to delete Purify and look for something else to keep my SPAM out.

I really love that software, but a not runing software is won't do any good for me.

Running OS X 10.4.11.

Uninstalled Purify, downloaded new version from site using links. Installed it, runs perfectly.

I'm stumped why it's not working on your computer. I'll poke around a little and see if I can turn up anything.
When do you see this message? Program start? Doing something?
I'm guessing that you've tried using Mac's Software Update to make sure that you're running the latest version of their Frameworks?

Can you fall back to Em@ilCRX?

I've posted a message in the development tool (REALbasic) forum here to see if anyone else has ever seen this behavior.

1. When I launch Purify I see the usual little window showing a red lamp. Just a couple second after that the spinning beachball appears. The lamp does not turn into green.
I have to force quit. Under 10.4.11 I got nothing after that. Since 10.5 I will get a crash report (hang) after force quit, so I was able to send you that via email.
2. I always get the Purify update from your web site.
3. I tried Em@ilCRX and it seems to be working okay. I can launch and configure it.

Note: The errore message appeared only on the "console" under MacOS X 10.4.11. Since I have updated to 10.5.1 the console does not show this error any more. Instead the CrashReport appears. I have mailed you the displayed text.

Thanks for the effort! I appreciate that!

I solved the problem by cleaning my Mac by erasing the hard disk and installing a brand new System (10.5.2). laugh.gif
That was pretty much work and I really do not wish anybody to that on his computer. I have never imagin how much serial numbers and preferences I have entered during the last years ... mad.gif

But anyway ... Purify 1.2.2 is back to work ! laugh.gif

Einfach wundervoll, Thomas. Thanks for sharing the update.

Today, after working flawlessly since I bought the program, it has stopped working.

When I launch the program I get a yellow light, a very quick progress bar, then a red light.

I've reinstalled (even older versions), but no luck.

The log text doesn't seem to be of much help, but here it is:

GeneralPreferences table (promptbeforeexit) already up to date.
GeneralPreferences table (forwardemail) already up to date.
GeneralPreferences table (emailaddress) already up to date.

The red light usually means that you have no network connection, have you checked this?
fotobob
Yes. I suspected that was what it meant and my provider has been doing some work on their network these past few days. However, the network is up and running, but Purify is still red.

Just an aside: Where is Purify's message spool located?
Jeff Hendrickson
There is only one state that will leave the ball red. Network.

Make sure that your HTTP port is 80 (or whatever HTTP port that you are using), then try to go to google.com from Safari on whatever port that you are using for HTTP.

You are the only person reporting this problem so I suspect that something is going on with your network connection.
fotobob
Somehow the port in Purify got itself set to 0, I reset it to 80 and all is fine.

As it just stopped working from one minute to the next, it didn't even occur to me to check the setting.

Thank you - I'm keeping a list of things to check, so hopefully I won't panic if it happens again.

I'm glad I found your comment. It happened to me as well, and I had been trying to figure out how to get Purify to work again.
It's working now. smile.gif
