I've set up a Windows folder for SpamX messages called 'c:\spamxdev\spam'.

I defined this in SpamX using 'Configure', 'Configure SpamX'.

From Windows Explorer, I selected this folder and right clicked. From the pop up menu I selected 'Send To', 'Desktop (create shortcut)'.

A folder icon is now visible on my Desktop called 'Shortcut to Spam'.

I now use this as my drop target when I drag and drop email from Outlook (I drag from Outlook, and drop on the folder icon on my Desktop). ph34r.gif

Just because I'm compulsive, I made two more changes. I right-clicked the desktop shortcut, selected "change icon" and navigated to the SpamX.exe. That changes the Icon to the SpamX blue circle. I then renamed it SpamDrop.

I hate folders on my desktop.

One point, if you want to rename the folder, you must first open the SpamX Configuration screen, switch to the Desktop and then rename the folder. Once you have renamed the desktop folder, click the Desktop in the configuration folder selection and the updated name will appear.

If you rename the Desktop folder first, SpamX will exit with an error -76 Folder not found. That's obviously working as designed wink.gif

It's not a folder on the desktop, just a shortcut to the Sp@mX folder defined in Configure. All it does is provide a quick way to move the messages to the actual folder without opening Windows Explorer.

Trust me to be awkward wink.gif I put my actual folder on the desktop! Works just fine ... till I break it cool.gif

Would be nice to have a status line message showing "Finished reporting" or "Sent all reports

There is one sir, you should see a message that says "All items in folder processed" (or something like that) when the last email is transmitted. ph34r.gif

Guess I just did it the real simple way and added a shortcut to the Spam Processing folder on my Outlook Shortcuts bar along with the rest of my normal mail folders.

Ok, ok, you're all show offs! Great tip JP! biggrin.gif

The only problem I have is that if you one of those spams with a zillion characters in the subject you can't drop the message in a folder (windows, typically, complains 'Path not found' or some other equally misleading message.

roll on the Mac OS X version!
Jeff Hendrickson
I'm way ahead of you BaZz!

I expect to have the cross platform version ready for testing in a week or so. I'm really excited about it, not only because of the Macintosh, and Linux versions, but also because I've had a chance to regroup, and during this rewrite I'm applying all of the lessons learned writing the first version.

I expect this version to be very well behaved, be available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux, and have a server version that can be used in business for spam processing.

Would you be willing to take a whack at testing the Macintosh version? ph34r.gif
