As Tycho has commented on the Purify Alpha thread, spam seems to have dropped massively in recent days. A week ago we were all groaning under the weight of another spam frenzy. For the past several days - for me at least - it's been surreal. I had two spams yesterday, but my inbox for both e-mail accounts was 100% SPAM FREE!!!! for FOUR DAYS before that. So the reporting must be doing something ... ?

Of course I've no doubt the spammers will fight back in due course. But meanwhile - with apologies to John Lennon - maybe we (or some of us?) can Imagine a spam-free cyber universe.

Yes, I've noticed a big drop. Assumed it was just the weekend.

Or the fact that I'd got so used to the large increase that happened last week.

Not everyone's seeing what we're seeing, though. dry.gif

Peaks and troughs.

I'm still at a rate noticeably lower than I was a week to ten days ago. No doubt it'll climb again soon. But for the moment I count my blessings.

I regret to say that I've now become convinced that little or nothing will change until those really in a position to stop this e-terrorism, this oppression of the majority by a tiny minority at an almost unbelievable ratio of a few dozens to billions, until some awful disaster occurs - such as a hospital unable to function b/c its network is clogged with the stuff, or an airport's superstructure rendered inoperable thanks to incoming spam.

Then everyone will turn round, wide eyed, and deny all knowledge that there has been this menace for as long as those of us active in resisting it in our various ways know there has.

One trend I can confirm in recent days (weeks?) is multiple identical mailings to different accounts/addresses within the same domain.

PS : The (short) calm period is over, more spam since two days, is a new "tsunami" coming ?
