Jeff Hendrickson
Version 1.3.1 was put on the Web site at 7:13pm EST, Thursday, July 29, 2004.

This version is much faster than previous versions.

I've also done some additional work on the ISP lookups, hopefully this further improve the accuracy.

Full installation package:
http://www.hendricom.com/Downloads/spamxii.zip
Executable only:
http://www.hendricom.com/Downloads/spamxiibinonly.zip

Remember to backup your 'do not send' lists if you use the full installation package.

I'm anxious to get your feedback.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for this...

This is one of those domains that has several 'changed' entries from different domains in it's record in RIPE.

As you can see, a complaint went out to the admin from these domains.

I'll see if I can put something together to prevent this from happening.

1.3.1 certainly seems a lot faster.. well done.

Now, can you do one that will run on Mac-OSX? smile.gif

I got fed up with the constant "updates" and unreliability of Windoze, so I'm now using a Powerbook G4 as my personal computer.

Amen my brother. I'm similarly challenged by Microsoft's technology de'jour, $$$ please.

My next OS version of SpamX should be Linux don't you think? Doesn't it have more market share than Apple?
Bazz
If developers don't write for Mac-OS then they'll never get more market share.

I'm truly impressed with this machine (and I'm hard to impress!).
No system crashes so far.. and the development tools are wonderful. Objective-C looks to be the dogs wotsits. Just waiting on a couple of books and I'll see what I can do with it.

Oh, and another problem with 1.3.1.. I thought you'd fixed this..

It didn't pick up 221.125.36.188.

Hi BaZz,

Ok, so you got me interested in Mac.

I had fixed the IP parser, but then education got in the way.

According to my edumakashun -
[221.125.36.188] (port=1106 helo=62.244.176.192)

Is supposed to look like this -
(port=1106 helo=62.244.176.192[221.125.36.188])

Anyhooo, I've put in some code to address this along with not reporting 'changed:' domains found in lookup records.

It's on the Web site. Remember to back up your 'do not send' if you use the full install.

There's some tutorials and docs on Objective-C on apples web site. Interesting reading..

for eg:

You know in Windows, if you want the File Edit Help menus you have to build them, assign numeric ids to the items and handle the events?

On the Mac, you inherit anything you don't explicitly handle.
So, the top-level program (Explorer in windoze, Finder on the Mac) alrady has File Edit Help etc.

In a MacOS app, if you don't handle File menu, you just inherit the Finders default one with all the extra bits you might have added to it yourself. (yep, on the Mac you can edit the default menus)

That's cool. I have to admit that Apple's OSs have always been more stable, and intuitive.

I was planning on starting my Microsoft rebellion with Linux. Now you've spoiled everything... wink.gif
Bazz
Hah..
I tried Linux.. started with Red Hat 9, then they changed the support and released something called fedora with no support. I then went to Debian which is a nice distro with good support and very easy installation / update.

Then I had all sorts of hardware problems with my PCs at home (two motherboards built-in fans stopped and burned out the board) so I got fed up. Seemed logical to buy hardware and software designed explicitly for each other.

Jeff, go visit Rick at http://www.rixstep.com for the lowdown on good and bad and Apple vs MS and so on and so forth, and http://www.radsoft.net for some *really* essential tools if you run Windows.

These are really cool sites!

Yepper, I went to the Apple store today to see what they had.

I can get a respectable E-Mac that I can use to produce Mac versions of my software for around $800. It comes with the development environment, and networking included. ph34r.gif
