I've noticed an issue using SpamX with Outlook 2000 in Batch mode...

My ISP's spam filter sends suspicious messages with "SPAM" appended to the subject. An Outlook rule then sends them to my Deleted Items folder on arrival. The ones that get past the filter end up in my Inbox, and I manually delete them, which sends them to the Deleted Items folder.

I then run SpamX on the contents of the Deleted Items folder. As it progresses, each message disappears from that folder in turn as it is processed.

Here's the issue:

If I manually delete messages from the Deleted Items folder, or use the command "Empty Deleted Items Folder", those messages are removed from the ISP's mail server at the next Send/Receive. But if SpamX deletes them (and I'm not sure that's what it's doing...but they do disappear), they are not removed from the server at the next Send/Receive.

I'm running SpamX on my home computer, and if later I check mail on my office computer, all of the same Spams are downloaded to it, because they were not removed from the server.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don,

The next version of SpamX that I release will allow Outlook, and Outlook Express users to 'drag and drop' (which make a copy) their spam email to a Windows folder. SpamX will process the message from this Windows folder.

This should resolve your problem. I expect this version to be ready for testing within the next few weeks.

I hope this helps...
