Seems like every time I set up a new account in CRX, the first time it polls the new email account, it pulls down old email from the past 6 months. My accounts all have at least one computer that the email client (Mail) is supposed to delete after retrieving. What's up?

Or does this have to do with having beta tested CRX last Fall/Winter? Was there a pref that had a record of all those emails from back then?
Jeff Hendrickson
If you have email left on this server, CRX will download it if it does not already exist in the database.

If you check delete email after downloading, then CRX will remove the old messages from your server.

Update:

Interestingly, the only thing that it brought in was spam for the last 6-8 months or so. Where it got this or how is a good question since I had not been using the CRX beta except last Fall/Winter, but not this Spring. And why only the spam?

Yes, that is the point. I have always had Delete After Retrieving set on my email client (Mail). Even checking the email account with Squirrelmail, there wasn't any mail there to be retrieved. Now with CRX, it pulled down a whole bunch of spam, but spam only. There was no other email retrieved on the initial retrieval with CRX, just old and new spam.

I'm confused as to how this could happen.

CRX doesn't manage your POP account in any way, other than delete messages that it has read if indicated in it's configuration.

If it downloaded messages, then they were on your POP server, and not in your database.
