One IP address parsing bug has been corrected.
The zip files were double checked for content (they may have contained an old file).
Also added a time stamp to the abuse complaint subject, so you can track ISP responses using your 'Sent Items' folder.
Build 1.2.7d is available at --
Executable only:
http://www.hendricom.com/Downloads/spamxiibinonly127.zipFull installation package:

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

Ok.. 1.27d seems to be working ok, but can I make an urgent request?
Please can it NOT delete emails where it can't find an abuse address?
That way I can run in batch mode and then go back afterwards to find out why no address was found.
At the moment I'm getting over 100 spams a day and processing them manaually is not an option.

Hi BaZz....
You keep thinkin' Butch, that's what you're good at...
Yes sir, I think that would be a great idea, I'll get to work on it.
I'm also going to put in a feature that allows SpamX users that use other email clients (esp. Outlook Express) to process their email from a Windows folder.
BTW, I'd be interested in seeing the header/body of an email that 1.2.7d couldn't find a response for...., I haven't had this happen here...
Do you think this version is ready to be unleashed?
Thanks for all your help in testing!

Broadly, yes I think it can be released. It's not throwing exceptions now so it's just the no report address thing.

That's great!
You know I saw one of these 'no report' items this morning. The reason it came back with no report is the RIPE query didn't get answered by RIPE. I'm sure this will happen on occasion with the other services.
I'm working on your feature requests, thanks.

You want more feature requests?
How about have a config option like the old SpamControl where you tell it what folder to process?
This in addition to the current way where it looks at the current folder.
As it stands, with over 100 spams, say, you can't do anything else in Outlook while SpamX is processing. It'd be nice if I could just go look at this folder and carry on with other stuff.
oh, yes, and don't have it have to be a subfolder off the inbox.. Outlook creates it's own special folder Junk Email which can't be moved etc and it outside the inbox.

Ok, ok, I'm working on it... <huffing and puffing>
These are all great ideas, thanks. I'll see what I can do for you...

PS. while you aren't doing anything ... ;-) a neat idea might be to hover the Resolved names for entries in the List of IP Addresses

Thanks for the detailed feedback Chris...
If TELENOR.NET and GXN.NET are friendly ISPs that are involved with the delivery of your email (it looks like they are from your example) then they need to be in your 'do not send' list. For example AFFINITY.COM is a friendly ISP for me, so I have the word AFFINITY in my 'do not send' list.
If you add the words TELENOR, and GXN to your 'do not send' list, and rerun this email, you'll see it will produce the result you've predicted.
Great suggestion regarding the hover function....
Thanks again

I had full domains in the config file - have reduced it to the two key words ... Telenor and GXN are both part of one of my ISP's: CIXQUOTE
Great suggestion regarding the hover function....

I like the Date/Time addition to the Report function in 1.27d, thanks! Until you come up with a way to preserve the original spam message following a report, I'm doing each message manually and then dumping it off in to a Reported folder. Can't wait for that functionality :-) <mutters> where's me whip when I need it? </mutter> B-)

Jeff,
For some reason, I can't download 1.2.7d. Internet Explorer goes to message 404, and my download manger (freshdownload 7.00) just pauses, waiting to try again.
This brings me to a related issue. For some reason, installing over a previous SpamXii installation gets the program installed, but messes up the Windows Add/Remove dialogue. It shows an (apparently) correct installation followed by several obviously spurious ones - obvious because of the generic folder icon and because it shows the size of each "installation" as 1.36GB (as in giga-).
When I try to remove the "spurious" installations, it removes the real thing. That's what led me to try downloading again today. Initially, I clicked on the link from your last e-mail to me, then I tried the link on the message board. Same result each time.
P.S. 1.2.7b was a great improvement and look forward to d's improvements.

Hi Codger,
You've got something going on with you machine. I'd like to help you get this sorted out..., your input using the new versions is very helpful.
Could we start an email thread regarding this problem?? jeff at hendricom.com...

I've just checked my Add/Remove and found 5 occurrences of SpamX installed with some installs showing as big as 9.0 GB.

It makes sense that you'd get a different entry for each new version number. Uninstalling these should be painless. Please let me know if you run into problems.
For you users that are computer savvy, you can download the 'executable only' flavor, and just copy the executable into your SpamX program folder.

Jeff,
I can't be sure, but I think that's how I got in trouble in the first place. I first noticed the multiple "installations" after I'd plugged in two or three ".exe's only" in a row. After that, I started using the full install. I guess I thought that might clean up the extra entries. It was obviously a forlorn hope and obviously didn't clean up the multiple Add/Remove entries.
I then used the Add/Remove dialogue to remove the spurious entries, but on the first try it uninstalled my one and only true installation. I then "uninstalled" them all. Meanwhile, I have no version on file newer than 1.2.6. I don't know why 1.2.7 wasn't backed up (another story).
P.S. Here it is, Friday, and I still can't download 1.2.7. Both Internet Explorer and FreshDownload were unable to locate the file.
