Usually I get some foolishness back from Microsoft support about how they are passing the buck to someone else to stop the spammers. This was a nice surprise I received:

Hey Jeff:

I changed my router to a newer one. I did not change any of the setting of Purify (except I downloaded the update) or any of the settings for the router. I suspect however something in the router's interface may be preventing Purify from fetching the my mail. I am hanging at the 'connecting to localhost' stage and that is where it dies/stays forever. I have a screenshot I can mail you if it helps.

I am wondering if I need to tweak one of the settings on my router. It is a Linksys Wireless N router. Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff, I think this may have covered before but how do I deal with spam that is faked to appear as if I am sending spam to myself? Of course my e-mail address is white listed so it gets past all the ratings/filters, etc. It is not a huge deal, but still is irritating.

Mike

Hey Jeff:

Quick question. I have been reporting all my spam on a regular basis. Now for whatever reason it seems I am getting more. Today I got 77 alone! Might reporting somehow make me a larger target for more spam?? Seems odd but thought I'd as unsure.gif
